Dean Shiels left his role as the lead coach of Coleraine before the club’s European play-off on May 7.
Shiels was appointed in May 2024 and guided the bannsiders to fifth place at the Irish Premiership while the club went to full -time football.
Following a spell like Oran Kearney assistant, the 40 -year -old raised the lead coach in the enclosures after his brother -in -law moved to a football director at the club.
Former Derry City Director Ruaidhri Higgins in the striker to take over Shiels and could be in a position for the European Play-Off semi-final on Wednesday, May 7th.
Bannsiders will face crosses or semi-finalists of the Irish Cup Dungannon on the play-off.
Michael O’Connor, assistant coach of Shiels, also left the enclosures.
Coleraine said both Shiels and O’Connor come out “with the utmost respect and gratitude” and will be “welcomed with heat in the future.”
Henry Ross, executive president and majority shareholder in Coleraine, said Shiels led the team with “great passion.”
