Far goals were eliminated from UEFA competitions in June 2021.

The change of rule was made as a result of the recommendations of the UEFA club competition committee and the UEFA Women’s Football Committee.

The European ties that end the level after both legs go to extra time and then to the penalties.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin questioned the fairness of the rule and believed that discouraged domestic teams, especially in the first ducks, to attack.

“The Rule of Goal Outside has been an intrinsic part of UEFA competitions since it was introduced in 1965,” Ceferin said.

“However, the question of its abolition has been debated at several UEFA meetings in recent years. Although there was no unanimity of views, many coaches, fans and other football interested parties have expressed their preference for the rule to be abolished.”
