Barrie McDermott Take a look at what is planned to be another weekend of party, as the magical weekend of the Superliga returns to Newcastle …
After a Superliga Action Round last week, the excitement is already building one of the best weekends on the Rugby League calendar – Magic Weekend 2025 – and once again, returns to the iconic St James Park.
Newcastle will open your arms to rugby league fans from every corner of the country (and beyond!), Creating that brilliant carnival atmosphere that can only offer magic.
Saturday, May 3 and Sunday on May 4 promises to be two days of action, passion and full memories.
A city that lives and breathes the rugby league
If you have been before, you know: Newcastle lives and breathes the weekend.
From the fans out of St James to the buzzing streets of the city, fans flood from all clubs. In all the places you look at, you will see fans with cloths, singing songs and flags flying.
It’s not just about games, but people, laughs, drama, community. We always say this is a community game.
The magical weekend is not just a list of accessories, it is an experience.
2025 is forming one of the elders still with the table of the Superliga that seems to have ended closer than ever. Bring your colors, bring your voice, bring your passion, because magic is almost here.
Six Blockbuster games; An incredible stage
The line? It’s unreal. There are rivalries, revenges and great statements that they expect to be done:
SATURDAY: All matches on sky sports action:
Leopards Leigh vs Catalans Dragons (2.30pm, KO 15:00)
Leigh is undefeated in magic. The Catalans are desperate to stamp their authority. This could set the tone for the whole weekend.
The Catalans come in after a great Golden Point Victory over Wakefield and Leigh with a dominant who fought Salford, so this is an opportunity for both to show why they should be considered contenders.
HULL KR VS SALFORD RED Devils (5pm, KO 5:15 pm)
Two of the league animators Chocan. Wait fireworks, downloads and maybe a little chaos.
Of course, Hull Kr enters this game as the clear favorites, just at the top of the league and the dominant force at this time. Salford will show heart and determination.
St Helens vs Leeds Rinos (7:15 pm, KO 7:30 pm)
Meeting of saints and rich in Magic – for the first time! Two clubs with real history, a lot of pride and a lot to prove.
St Helens has fought enormously to put performances while Leeds is performing performances but does not get the result.
Both parties will want to make their mark so you expect two old enemies to do a concert.
Sunday: All matches in the sky sports action
Huddersfield Giants vs Hull FC (12.30pm, KO 1pm)
Two sides looking for a spark. Will Huddersfield’s new stars shine, or Hull FC’s faithful after lifting them to something special?
The giants still don’t have a victory this season and they know they need to change that and fast. Hull, who enters this clash at the back of a strong loss against Wigan, trusts and knows they can fight with the most important young people in the league this year.
John Cartwright’s side will feel they can gain ways again.
Wigan Warriors VS Warrington Wolves (3pm, 15:15 KO)
A revenge on last year’s Cup of Challenge Cup. No love was lost here. Expect intensity, physics and real fireworks.
Wigan absolutely dominated Warrington in Las Vegas in what was a success shock for wolves to want to recover their backs.
The side of Sam Burgess is dropped in the troops, but as they showed against St Helens, they will not lack heart or spirit.
Castleford Tigers VS Wakefield Trinity (5.15pm. KO 5.30pm)
Wakefield has returned and there is no bigger way to announce it than to face his most fierce rivals. Expect pure passion to close the weekend.
They put an exceptional battle ago few rounds, Wakefield winning by Golden Point and both parties will know how significant it may be a victory on this device for their season.
